King John, by William Shakespeare (9-13 November 2010)

One of Shakespeare's least known and least performed plays, this is a sage of high politics. A weak leader is yesterday's news, yet pacts and coalitions are ever present...

"This King John emphasizes the calculations (and miscalculations) which determine political power. "Commodity" trumps principle, rules are of limited consequence and exist chiefly as possibilities to be manipulated. There is only one lasting value: survival."

I played a small part: "Chatillon". Chatillon is the ambassador of King Philip of France. He opens the play, theatening the borrowed majesty, that is England's King John, with "fierce and bloody war"...

This play was presented by the Brussels Shakespeare Society. It was directed by Stephen Challens and produced by Joanna Jack. It was staged at the Warehouse Studio, Brussels.
